Port Susan Families:

Hope you had a wonderful holiday with friends and family.  We are quickly making our way to the end of first semester and I want to encourage you to check your student’s grades on Family Access.  If you see that they are struggling in any classes, please don’t hesitate to contact the Port Susan Office, so that we can help your student to find strategies to help them be successful.  Our counselors and administration are willing to assist you and your student and we have a variety of options that we can suggest including classes or homework center at lunch or after school.

Here are a few suggestion of how you can help your middle school student at home each day:

  1. Find a quiet space and a consistent time each day for your child to do homework.
  2. Review Homework. The best way to know if your child is struggling is to review his homework from time to time.
  3. Make Studying Fun. Let's face it, most kids don't love homework.
  4. Contact His Teachers.
  5. Hire a Tutor.
  6. Be Optimistic.
  7. Find Out What's Going On.
  8. Set Goals.

I also want to encourage you to help your student come to school each day.  Success at school is closely tied to attendance and it can be an overwhelming challenge to catch up when students are gone for extended periods of time.

Don’t hesitate to contact the Port Susan Office or your student’s teachers.

Thank you,
