Susan Fortner, Port Susan Middle School
Para Educator, received the first Classified Employee of the Month
award....
The superintendent, award sponsor, the principal, and
two teachers made a surprise announcement during a brief intermission
of her assignment. The Board of Directors will recognize Mrs. Fortner
at the regular board meeting October 20, 2009, at 7:00 PM at the
Administration and Resource Center. The public is invited to the
meeting to help celebrate this recognition.
Mrs. Fortner has been a para educator in the Stanwood-Camano School
District for 12 years. She was nominated by three teachers, Sheri
Schroeder, Jana Swenson, and Mark Carlson and was then selected, by
committee, to receive the award. Mrs. Fortner heard the words that
were written about her from the teachers and Mr. Olson, principal, who
filled in for Mrs. Schroeder, who was unable to attend the event. Mrs.
Schroeder listed characteristics of consistency, caring,
professionalism and dedication, “always willing to go the extra mile to
support student learning.”
